Barcelona, Boca Juniors to honor Argentina great Diego Maradona in welcoming match

LaLiga club Barcelona will participate in Argentine giants Boca Juniors in a December tribute match to mark the 1 yr-anniversary of the loss of life of their former player Diego Maradona, the two sides announced on Monday.

“FC Barcelona and Club Atletico Boca Juniors will enjoy the ‘Maradona Cup’ on Dec. 14, a video game to spend tribute to the star Diego Armando Maradona when the initial anniversary of his loss of life is remembered,” Barcelona explained in a statement.

Boca confirmed they will get portion in the sport and explained it will be played at the Mrsool Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Maradona died from a coronary heart attack on Nov. 25, 2020 soon after battling overall health problems and undergoing emergency operation for a subdural haematoma.

The Argentine played for Barca and Boca in a storied profession that incorporated trophy wins in the two countries, whilst his most successful club stint was with Italian side Napoli. He also famously guided Argentina to their 1986 Globe Cup triumph in Mexico.
