On Monday, Group C at the Euro 2020 tournament will wrap up competition as North Macedonia takes on the Netherlands. The Dutch have already qualified for the knockout stages, however, they still want to put in a good performance for seeding purposes. In the first two games of the tournament, the Netherlands have shown that they are one of the best sides in Europe. In fact, they are only one of three countries, alongside Italy and Belgium to win their first two matches.
Furthermore, much of this success can be attributed to the individual performances of Frenkie de Jong, Gini Wijnaldum and of course, Denzel Dumfries. These three players have been sensational at Euro 2020, especially Dumfries who has netted twice. With this game having much less significance in comparison to the first two, it will be interesting to see how much Frank de Boer rotates his squad.

On the other hand, North Macedonia also poses themselves as an interesting side in this game. Not much was expected out of North Macedonia in this competition, and after losing their first two matches, they are officially eliminated from further play. However, there is a major sense of pride in playing for your country, so do not expect North Macedonia to lie down against the Netherlands. This will be their last match of Euro 2020, so expect them to attack this rotated Netherlands team with all of the gas left in their engine.
How Does Frank de Boer Manage This Match?
The results of this game hinges massively on how many players de Boer plans to rest against North Macedonia. Currently, the Netherlands are lined up to play their Round of 16 match against the best third-placed team from groups D, E or F. Because some of these groups are extremely loaded with talent, this could see them playing the likes of Croatia, Spain, Portugal or Germany just to name a few. None of those will be easy matches, meaning that he might prefer fresh legs over another three points in the group stages.

Regardless, the Netherlands have been great so far at Euro 2020. Their back line was a little wobbly against Ukraine, but with Matthijs de Ligt back in the squad, they look much more organized in defense. In attack, they have a variety of options to use. While they do not have that traditional Dutch number nine, they play with Memphis Depay and Wout Weghorst up front, which will be hard enough for North Macedonia to handle. Having allowed five goals from their first two matches, they will have all they can do to stop the Oranje in this one.

This Game is About Pride for North Macedonia
Additionally, for North Macedonia, this last Euro 2020 match is about leaving with some pride. Igor Angelovski’s men surely do not want to leave without a point, and this match being for consolation, provides them the perfect opportunity. With that being said, the Netherlands will not make it easy, especially in front of a home crowd at the Amsterdam Arena.

Finally, from a historical sense, these sides have not played in over ten years. They met four times in the 2000’s, resulting in two stalemates and two victories for the Netherlands. While history is not on their side, North Macedonia knows that they cannot takes these appearances at major tournaments lightly. Expect Goran Pandev and his fellow teammates to play with their hearts on their sleeve come Monday.
North Macedonia vs Netherlands Best Bet
Overall, the best bet for this match is North Macedonia to cover +1.5 with odds of -105. This bet has good value and while this will be a victory for the Netherlands in their final group stage match, there is not a doubt in my mind that North Macedonia will make it an interesting game.
Pick: North Macedonia +1.5 (-105)
